Numerous women both inside and outside the church suffer in silence because of domestic abuse. For Christian women, religious beliefs often keep them and their children living in an unsafe home. Christian women need an emotionally safe place to address their abuse within the context of their faith.
Survivors outside the Christian church often search for God in the midst of their crises. Hagar’s Sisters has a unique opportunity to share the love of Christ with so many in need, regardless of the survivor’s religious convictions. We believe the message of God’s love and Christ’s redemption – in spite of years, or even a lifetime of abuse – is essential for true, complete healing.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
God continues to offer the experience and healing of Sisters as comfort and hope to new women who enter the group.
